Call for Unity
IAYT's QHP program
Voiced Concerns Timeline
Please note: if you are participating in a discussion with IAYT about their due diligence process, please read the letter that was sent to the Board on April 5th...as it outlines, line by line our arguments against the claims of inclusion and transparency
-
January 18, 2024 Michele Lawrence and Genevieve Yellin connected immediately after the first IAYT information session on the "proposed" IAYT-Q program (more information below) - to discuss their discomfort with the content of the information session - the program was not in the proposal stage as we were all led to believe, it was already approved and was being marketed as a fast track; registration was opened the next day with a full schedule of courses.
-
February 9, 2024 Michele reached out to other colleagues who had expressed concern during the same session, and all met to discuss a collective effort and next steps.
-
February 14, 2024 After the meeting, they collectively wrote a letter, outlining some of our concerns, and called for a meeting with the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors. HERE is the letter.
-
March 11, 2024 IAYT invited the group to attend a Zoom session to discuss. It was disheartening and little to no information was offered to alleviate our concerns. Alyssa, Executive Director promised to send us a follow up outlining the steps they took to get it approved.
-
March 20, 2024 We received a lengthy outline response from Alyssa, IAYT's Executive Director, claiming that the QHP program went through due diligence and a transparent process ensued before Board approval.
-
March 26, 2024 The group met without IAYT to discuss the response and went through each item.
-
April 5, 2024 The group wrote a response, addressed to the Board, requesting they call a special meeting and refuting the claims made by the ED, line by line. HERE is that letter. For a condensed summary of key points, download HERE
-
April 6, 2024 Molly McManus, IAYT Board President responded saying they received our communication and will get back to us when they are able (they are all volunteers)..
-
May 8, 2024 Michele wrote to Molly requesting an update. Molly responded same day and set they are setting up the special meeting we requested and someone would reach out after the meeting.
-
May 11, 2024 Michele asked for further clarification and asked if a representative from our group could attend.
-
May 15, 2024 Molly responded that the meeting was in June and gave a reason (that the group disagrees with) of why the Board would not allow a group member to attend or speak to the Board directly - she also requested that communications include Alyssa.
-
July 10, 2024 Molly wrote to our group thanking us for our feedback and informed us that the Board discussed the QHP program and have put up a feedback link on the IAYT webpage - they promised they would gather all information and monitor membership feedback.
-
July 23, 2024 The group collectively wrote an email thanking the board for granting us the Special session we requested and for creating the feedback link for others to voice their opinions. We stated that we trust that the Board will participate in the feedback process ensuring that all contribution are thoughtfully considered and not dismissed.
-
We all wrote feedback via the IAYT link and started asking colleagues to learn about the QHP program and give their opinion/feedback to IAYT through this LINK
-
August/September...and onward - many members of IAYT are just hearing about the QHP program, sharing thoughts on social media, about their concerns. For thoughtful and thorough posts, visit Amy Wheeler's FB posts, and read the comments submitted by so many.
-
Laura Kupperman who runs the Yoga Therapy FB group put up a poll that is an excellent way for all of us to gauge member feedback as we are not privy to the feedback being given on the IAYT website link or in any of the meetings - we have heard from many that they cannot see others comments and their questions weren't answered.
